Emergency Department Policies

InQuickER participating emergency departments adhere to the standards andated by the Federal Government for hospitals under the Emergency Treatment and Active Labor Act.

All persons who present to the Emergency Department will be offered a Medical Screening Examination by a duly licensed healthcare provider without regard to that person's ability to pay.

Emergency Departments have become extremely busy over the past several years. In order to accommodate the large volume of patients, a medical triage system is in place. The triage system evaluates those needing to been seen in order of degrees of medical urgency. The triage Registered Nurse is specifically trained in the clinical assessment skills of triage. With the triage system, the patients presenting with life threatening or potentially life threatening conditions are seen first while those with less serious medical conditions are seen when time and space allows.

As an InQuickER patient, you are reserving your time and you are given a “place in line” just as if you came to the Emergency Department Registration Desk. You have the ability, however, to wait at your residence or a place away from the hospital until your reserved time to come to the Emergency Department.

You should immediately go to the nearest hospital should Emergent or Urgent conditions exist or if your condition worsens from the initial time you reserved your time.

When you arrive at the Emergency Department and provide your confirmation as an InQuickER patient, your InQuickER nurse will provide the necessary assessment of triage and you will be afforded all of the medical services available based on the evaluations of the medical staff.
